What you'll learn
- Search their username exactly
- Check old comments or duets
- Consider bans and restrictions
- Check your own settings
- Use the TikTok checker
How it works
TikTok search and profile views depend on privacy settings, regional rules and moderation — not only blocks.
The video shows one creator's approach. Where it suggests a sign "confirms" a block, read the limitations below — most signs have other explanations.
Before you start
- The TikTok app
Step by step
Search their username exactly
TikTok search can lag behind username changes or skip accounts set to private.
Check old comments or duets
If their name still appears elsewhere but the profile will not load, note it.
Consider bans and restrictions
TikTok removes or limits accounts for policy reasons; those disappear for everyone.
Check your own settings
If you restricted your account, some content may be hidden from you.
Use the TikTok checker
See how your observations fit.
Android, iPhone and desktop
- Android & iPhone
- Search: tap the magnifying glass, then the Users tab.
- Desktop
- Visit tiktok.com/@username; "Couldn't find this account" can mean blocked, deleted or renamed.
Signs you may notice — and what they prove
I can't find the account through search
Consistent with a block, but has other causes
Blocked accounts don't show in your search, but neither do renamed, banned or deleted accounts.
Their profile shows no videos for me
Consistent with a block, but has other causes
You may see an empty profile when blocked. Private accounts and deleted videos look similar.
I can no longer comment, message or duet with them
Often just a privacy setting
TikTok lets users limit who can comment, message, duet or stitch — no block needed.
Important
- Avoid making alternate accounts to watch someone who may have blocked you.
Common mistakes and troubleshooting
- Videos disappear but the profile loads
- They may have made videos private or deleted them.
What this does not prove
- None of these signs proves a block on its own. Only a notice shown by the platform itself is strong evidence.
- TikTok's Login Kit gives basic profile access only — no block lists.
Frequently asked questions
